Nikolinakos & Partners Law Firm

Our Strategic Collaboration with NETMODE Laboratory (NTUA)

At the heart of Nikolinakos & Partners’ approach is a unique partnership with the renowned NETMODE Laboratory, a premier engineering research laboratory with 50+ experts at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).

Together, we deliver a one-stop-shop service offering, providing assessment, compliance, policies, implementation support, complaint handling, and full regulatory & judicial representation.

The Result: A fully integrated, end-to-end legal and technical solution for the entire EU digital-regulatory landscape. Our collaboration enables our clients to benefit from technically grounded legal advice, stronger evidentiary support in digital disputes, and more effective compliance with complex digital environments. The collaboration strengthens client support in areas including NIS2 compliance, digital platforms and online marketplaces (DSA, DMA), AI, robotics, IoT, and technology-driven product liability, while enhancing technical credibility in digital disputes. By integrating legal strategy with cutting-edge technical insight, the cooperation enables more effective incident management, regulatory engagement, and dispute resolution in the rapidly evolving digital economy.

What is NETMODE Lab?

The Network Management & Optimal Design Laboratory (NETMODE) is established within the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), and is directed by Prof. Symeon Papavassiliou. NETMODE research concentrates on the design, optimization and management of heterogeneous networks and distributed dynamic systems, emphasizing on: optimization and orchestration in 5G/6G Networks, complex network analysis, knowledge and data analysis, network management and security, modelling and control of dynamic networked systems, decision-making algorithms, cyber physical social systems, software-defined networks and network virtualization, Internet of Things, ICT for creative Industries and education, smart cities, and performance evaluation of stochastic systems.

Our Legal-Technical Edge

As the only law firm in Greece offering a fully integrated legal-technical model, we deliver end-to-end compliance and litigation defense services supported by scientifically validated solutions. Our clients gain regulatory protection, operational resilience, and a defense that is both legally and technically fortified.

Strategic advantage of our cooperation

  • Bridging the law–technology gap: Our clients no longer have to manage separate legal and technical narratives. The cooperation creates a unified approach where legal strategy and technical reality reinforce each other.
  • Future-proof advice for digital business: As digital regulation and litigation become more technical and evidence-driven, our clients gain a forward-looking advantage by working with a team that integrates top-tier legal expertise with cutting-edge academic research.

Why It Matters to You

This collaboration ensures our legal solutions are not just theoretical — they are technically validated and research-backed.
By integrating legal expertise with NETMODE’s research-grade technical and operational insight, we can:

  • Audit algorithms and digital platforms under real-world conditions
  • Validate cybersecurity architectures and security-by-design principles
  • Ensure AI, data protection, and telecom compliance that withstands judicial and regulatory scrutiny
  • Translate technical complexity into clear, actionable legal strategies

Value for our clients in litigation & disputes

  • Technically grounded legal arguments: NETMODE Lab’s expertise in network measurements, platform behavior, traffic analysis, and system performance allows legal arguments to be backed by verifiable technical evidence, not assumptions. This is particularly powerful in disputes involving cybersecurity incidents, platform liability, data flows, online abuse, or service disruptions.
  • Stronger evidentiary positioning: The cooperation enables early identification, preservation, and interpretation of digital evidence (logs, traffic data, system interactions), supporting causation, attribution, and damage assessment — critical elements in cyber, data, and TMT-related litigation.
  • Credibility before courts and regulators: Courts and authorities increasingly expect technically robust explanations in digital disputes. The combined legal and academic-technical perspective enhances credibility, helping translate complex technical facts into clear, persuasive legal narratives.
  • Early dispute prevention and strategy: Technical insight at an early stage allows for realistic risk assessment and litigation strategy, including whether a case should be escalated, settled, or proactively managed before it becomes contentious.

Value for our clients in compliance & regulatory matters

  • Practical, technically informed compliance design: Clients benefit from compliance frameworks (GDPR, NIS2, platform regulation) that are aligned with how systems actually function — networks, architectures, data flows, and dependencies — rather than purely theoretical legal models.
  • NIS2-ready risk and incident management: The cooperation supports accurate identification of critical assets, network dependencies, and systemic risks, enabling clients to meet NIS2 obligations on risk management, incident handling, resilience, and supply-chain security with defensible, evidence-based processes.
  • More effective incident preparedness and response: By combining legal incident-management structures with technical incident analysis, clients can respond faster and more coherently to data breaches and cyber incidents, reducing regulatory exposure and operational impact.
  • Regulatory engagement backed by substance: When engaging with supervisory authorities, clients are better positioned to demonstrate not only legal compliance but also genuine technical understanding and control of their systems — a key factor in regulatory trust and enforcement outcomes.
